Dealing with Disappointments

sad man on a mountain

There are days when hard things happen. When life shows up and says, “not today”. How do you deal with those first world problems that seem to show up when everything else seems normal and puts a damper on your day. I remember one day a few years ago when I was going through a particular rough patch while pastoring one of the Lord’s churches. I came home after a particularly bad day where everything that could go wrong, did. I walked in the door to talk with my wife about it, and she was playing the piano and singing the song, “count your blessings”. You know at that moment I didn’t want to “count my blessings” nor did I want to “name them one by one”. I wanted to vent my frustrations to my wife and whine about how hard of a day I had had. However I did stop and count my blessings and remembered how that the Lord had blessed me with a great family and ministry and breath and … (etc.) You get the idea. Sometimes stopping and recounting the blessings from the hand of God maybe the one thing that gets you back on track. Remember God and His care for you and you can deal with those daily disappointments. Here is some scripture to help.

Hebrews 4:14-16  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.  (15)  For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.  (16)  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Remember to stay in the Word and stay positive!
