Crafting Kindness

Helping-Others-1080x575

It seems that as of late we are seeing the demise of kindness in our culture. If I could bring back one thing in our culture it is kindness. Now this doesn’t mean that kindness is not around just not as a whole in the culture but in pockets. While kindness is not exclusively christian, it is implicitly christian and it must be crafted. We are told to be kind, and are commanded to be kind. Now lets make sure that kindness is not to be weakness. Kindness as a concept is so key to our concept of relationships. We are supposed to be kind to those we love or even to those that need our help. We as believers need to be kind to those who are not necessarily kind to us. Here is what the Word gives us in Colossians 3.

Col 3:12-13 KJV 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

We are told to “put on” kindness. Seeing the way we behave in society, we are in desperate need to “put on” kindness. We see so much selfishness rather than kindness. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross to die in our sted to allow God to give us grace is the ultimate act of kindness. Kindness is the result of a heart that has been surrendered to Christ. Are you kind? Even when you don’t have to be? Kind when it may be not to your advantage? Be Kind!
